Landscaping

Last week we had someone come to our house to discuss upgrades to the home and landscaping options. They took photos and were able to come up with the following concept for our front yard. Adding a sidewalk next to the road, widening the driveway, a garden of flowers, a step-stone pathway in the 'garden' leading to the door, a mailbox, window shutters, real grass, etc. It makes our house more of a cottage and we love it. Although the cost is high, we hope to start some of it next month and will continue slowly all year.

looks good. But aren't you going to be the only house with a side walk? I would'nt spend that money. (probley $500) Also seems like a lot of plants, flowers. Water drip system? step stone path way? That path is your number one foot path. Imagine carrying a baby, groceries on a uneven path. I would recommend a curved concrete sidewalk. Also be sure to use climate wise plants. The post office is very picky with mail box placement. (Height, etc) Any plans for the steps and rail, front foor w/ out mail slot? How about a small japanese Maple tree? (good focal point) Jake
